From timing export to 509 finisher certificates

Your timing company sends a results file within hours of the last finisher. Upload it untouched, and every runner gets a certificate with their own time on it while their legs are still sore.

  1. Get the results file

Ask your timing provider for the CSV or Excel export with bib, name, category, chip time and gun time. There’s no need to tidy it.

  2. Choose the time that prints

Match the name, category and time columns to the certificate. Pick chip time, gun time or both, and each runner’s own figure lands on their certificate.

  3. Leave out non-finishers

Rows without a finish time, such as DNF or DNS, are flagged so you can leave them out. Long double-barrelled names shrink to fit their line.

  4. Send them that evening

Email each finisher their certificate and story link, or download every certificate as one ZIP and link to it from your results page.

Sizing it up: Free takes 25 names a month (most awards nights), Pro 300 (a fun run) and Business 1,000 (a mid-sized 10K), and only Business emails certificates in your club’s name. Compare plans

Chip time runs from the moment each runner crosses the start mat, so nobody loses the seconds spent shuffling to the line. It’s the time most runners quote.

Wording

Sports certificate wording for every award

Nine examples from the clubhouse to the finish line. The highlighted part comes from your sheet; the rest is yours to rewrite in the club’s own voice.

What a sports certificate should show

  • The club, league or race name, with its crest or logo
  • The award or achievement: Player of the Season, Finisher
  • The athlete’s or team’s name exactly as on the results
  • Season, event and date: 2025–26 season, Riverside 10K
  • The result, if there is one: time, position or score
  • Category or age group: Under-11s, F35, Open
  • A signature from the chair, captain or race director
  • A QR code so selectors and new clubs can check it

Player of the season

Player of the Season 2025–26

Awarded to Chloe Fraser of Harlow Vale Netball Club’s first team, for 22 matches, 418 goals at 91% accuracy, and a calm head in every close finish.

Awards night, 6 June 2026 · Club Chair

Put the season in the title as well as the date. “Player of the Season 2025–26” is how members will find it on their shelf years from now.

Most improved · junior

Most Improved Player

Congratulations, Arjun Mehta! From your first training session in September to captaining the Under-11s in May, nobody grew more this season. Keep turning up.

Race finisher

Official Finisher

This certifies that Hannah Okoro completed the Wexcombe Riverside 10K on 4 October 2026 in a chip time of 47:12, finishing ninth of 61 in the F35 category.

4 October 2026 · Race Director, Wexcombe Riverside 10K

Map the position and category columns as well as the time. “Ninth in her age group” is the line runners actually post.

Team championship

League Champions

Presented to Brookfield CC 2nd XI, champions of Division Three of the North Downs League 2026, with 14 wins from 16 and unbeaten at home all summer.

19 September 2026 · League Secretary, North Downs League

List the squad in a second column and use the Regatta design, so every player sees their own name on the team’s certificate.

Coach thank-you

Certificate of Appreciation

With thanks to Sarah Mitchell for six seasons of Saturday mornings with the Under-9s, a mountain of orange slices and not one missed session. From every player and parent at Kestrel Park FC.

End of season, June 2026 · Kestrel Park FC Juniors Committee

Thank-you certificates land best with specifics: the years, the team, one memory. Leave space for players to sign a printed copy.

Club life membership

Certificate of Life Membership

This is to certify that Gregory Lin has been elected a Life Member of Wexcombe Rowing Club, proposed by Captain Ruth Hale and seconded by James Whitfield, for thirty years of service on and off the water.

12 October 2026 · Victoria Ames, Club Secretary · No. LM-0087

Give life members a number in your sheet and print it, as the Roll Book design does. The certificates become the club’s own register.

Grading & belts

Grading Certificate · Blue Belt

Awarded to Marta Kowalczyk, who passed her blue belt grading at Northgate Judo Academy on 19 September 2026 in front of a panel of three examiners.

19 September 2026 · Chief Instructor, 4th Dan

Gradings come round several times a year. Save the design once and only the sheet changes each time.

Certificate of Participation

At festivals where everyone plays, “participation” is the honest word. Keep “winner” wording for the finals.

Print or digital

Awards night still deserves something to hold. Print the winners’ certificates on card, put each name on the big screen as it’s read out, and send the digital copy the same night so the photos and the posts go out together.

  • PNG for the club newsletterA sharp image for the newsletter and website. Ask parents before you post juniors’ names anywhere public.
  • QR codes on the honours boardFramed certificates keep their QR code, so visitors can scan the wall and open each member’s story.

Every plan exports PDF and PNG. Pro and Business add print-quality files in every size, and PowerPoint.

FAQ

Sports certificate questions

How do I make finisher certificates with each runner’s time?

Ask your timing provider for the results file, upload it to a finisher design and match the name, category and time columns. Every certificate then prints that runner’s own time. Choose chip time, gun time or both, and leave out rows with no finish time, such as DNF or DNS.

Can I make one certificate for a whole team?

Yes, in two ways. Issue a certificate to each player from your squad list, with the team name on every one, or make a single team certificate with the whole squad printed on it. The Regatta design has a crew list for exactly that.

Are junior members’ certificates public?

Never. When a batch is marked under-18, each certificate can be private (opened from its QR code) or shared by private link, but never public. It stays off the Wall of Tales and out of search engines. Parents and the club can still send the private link to family.

What should a player of the season certificate say?

Put the award and the season in the title, then the player’s name and one or two specifics: appearances, goals, the moment people still talk about. Add the club crest and a signature from the chair or captain. The wording examples above are ready to copy.

Can we print certificates to hand out at awards night?

Yes. Download one PDF with a page per winner and print it on card; Free includes PDF and PNG. Pro and Business add print-quality export in A4, US Letter or A3 with bleed, plus a PowerPoint deck with a slide per award for the big screen.

Can adult members share their certificates?

Yes. Adults choose who sees their story page: private, shareable by link, or public on the Wall of Tales. They can share it to LinkedIn or WhatsApp in one tap or copy the link anywhere, and anyone who scans the QR code can check that the club issued it.

How much does Certale cost for a sports club?

You can start on Free: unlimited single certificates and 25 names a month from a spreadsheet, enough for many awards nights. Pro is $9 a month for 300 names, no Certale credit, and your club’s crest, colours and fonts. Business is $19 a month for 1,000 names, email delivery and full analytics. Verification and sharing are free on every plan.

What if a result changes after the certificates go out?

On Business you can revoke a certificate and issue a corrected one, for example after an appeal or a timing error. Anyone who opens or scans the revoked certificate sees a clear warning that it is no longer valid, never a tick.

Every finisher, every season, on the record.

A typical awards night fits in Free, at 25 names a month. For race day, Pro covers 300 names and Business 1,000. You won’t need a designer, and Free asks for no credit card.
